As a first-time homebuyer, single, and disabled veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. John DeStefano helped me so much, words could not explain! A month ago, I decided to take advantage of the low mortgage rates and apply for a mortgage in which I was approved. I went online, saw a condo that I was interested in, contacted the realtor associated with the property and began working with him to purchase the condominium. Subsequently, I began to realize the realtor wasn't really helping me. Whenever I would contact him to ask them to contact the seller and ask if we could negotiate repairs, etc, he always came back explaining that the seller said no, and whatever I was requesting was small and not worth blowing the deal. Me not knowing much about the home-buying process and putting all my trust in him, I believed him and continued the process. The day before the closing, the appraisal came back lower than the contract, so I wanted to negotiate. However, the realtor did not. He told me that I should pay the thousands of dollars extra and that it was still a good deal. I then asked him why he wasn't trying to help me and told him that i believe that he was only working for the seller and didn't care about me. I was very upset and did not know what to do. Then suddenly, I remembered seeing a friend's Facebook post saying great things about her experience working with Mr. DeStafano when she purchased her home. I then contacted him. I was nervous, scared and did not know what to do- it was time to close on the property. I didn't think he would help me- I already had a realtor in which immediately told Mr. DeStefano. The moment I explained my situation, he quickly began explaining the markets (seller's vs. buyer's market), my advantages/disadvantages, asked me lots of important questions regarding the property, etc, gave me options and so much more to help me make an educated, financial decision. In addition, the title company wanted to charge me an extra $2000.00 for the title and I thought it was too expensive. Mr. DeStefano asked me to send him particular information and explained that he was going to contact the title company that his company uses and get back to me right away. Soon after, he called me and confirmed that the company I was using was in fact charging me too much. With this information, I contacted my attorney and the realtor and was able to get that number reduced-I saved $2,000.00. I was blown away by this man. In addition to helping me save money, he taught me things that I never knew, to help guide me and help me come to a reasonable, financial educated, logical decision as to whether move forward with the deal or back away. The realtor I worked had never mentioned any of the things that Mr. DeStefano explained. He was only interested in helping the seller. I was alone, knew nothing about this process and was scared. AND HERE IS THE KICKER, he did all of this without hesitation and free of charge. He didn't know me. He wanted to genuinely help me, just because. He immediatley calmed me down!!! After speaking with him, I knew what to do. Today, I am a happy home owner!!! To date, I call John when I need answers about other things relating to my new home. He always take my calls, responds to my emails quickly and gives me great, solid, factual information. I totally trust him. I just wish I would have met Mr. DeStefano when I first decided to buy a home. Though everything still worked out, I am positive if he were my realtor, I would have been less-stressed and well-informed from day one. He's brilliant, professional and highly knowledgeable about the Realestate business. If you are looking for a great realtor, take my advice; HIRE HIM. HE IS THE BEST!!!
